2019 Holiday Celebrations

December was FULL of holiday celebrations! Who doesn’t love this time of year? We sure do around here at The Willows – just look at the fun we’ve been having!

From decorating the trees to making ornaments, December provided our residents with MANY opportunities to share their creative side!

Last month, third graders from Cedar Island Elementary School made dozens of gingerbread houses for us to enjoy on around our dining room this holiday season!

Thank you to everyone who attended the holiday party at The Willows of Arbor Lakes! It was incredibly special to see so many family members and to celebrate the holiday season with everyone!

Santa came to visit on Christmas Eve and spread holiday cheer throughout The Willows! ?

The Crimson Harmony singers from Maple Grove High School have performed for us every December since our community opened, and their music is always a highlight of our holiday season!

On December 20, we sang along to favorite Christmas songs during a performance by Amy & Adams while enjoying eggnog, gingerbread, holiday petit fours, and more!

Our residents loved hearing the Osseo Oriole Chamber Singers perform so much that they couldn’t help but sing along!

For the 2nd year in a row, we enjoyed a December performance from a lovely and talented string trio. One of the players is the great-niece of a resident here at The Willows of Arbor Lakes, which makes the music even more special!

Loren Wolfe swung by The Willows last month to help us celebrate our December birthdays. Happy (belated) birthday to Charlotte, Pat, Verna, and Joan!

End of fall fun at The Willows

Get caught up on the end of fall fun we’ve been having here at The Willows of Arbor Lakes!

It’s a bit late, but we wanted to share all the fun we had for Halloween this year! In the morning, we were “treated” to some reverse trick-or-treating from families of Living Word Church. Later that afternoon, we played Halloween bingo while enjoying spider truffles, candy corn, and other goodies. And to complete the day, we played pumpkin toss with ghost bean bags!

To celebrate World Kindness Day on November 13, residents here at The Willows made Kindness Cards for each of our staff members to thank them for their hard work!

The residents worked hard cutting out “grateful hearts” and painting them to decorate the dining room for this month’s theme: “Give thanks with a grateful heart.”

We recently took a crack at Peanut Butter Pie. We love trying new recipes here at The Willows, and this one was a hit!

Loren Wolfe Concert and Bingo

We enjoyed singing along with Loren Wolfe last Friday, and are always amazed at his seemingly endless repertoire of songs!

On Thursday, June 20, we had fun playing Bingo with middle school students from Lord of Life Church.

An Amazing Start to Summer at Willows of Arbor Lakes

It’s been an amazing start to summer here at the Willows!

Residents have painted flower pots with planted marigold seeds in them, planted flowers in the planters on our patio, and just relaxed while enjoying the sunshine!

On Thursday, May 23, the fourth graders from Cedar Island Elementary School came to sing for us at the Willows of Arbor Lakes. We were incredibly touched by their talent, organization, and kindness. Their singing brought smiles to all our faces, and we loved singing along to the familiar songs!

We are thankful for the warmer weather and the chance to get outdoors!

One Busy November

November 20th, 2018

We’ve been having an enjoyable November at the Willows of Arbor Lakes. We loved listening to Vinnie Rose sing and play the guitar. Randy Rolloff helped us celebrate the birthdays of Mae, Joan J., Mary K., and Rita N. We honored our resident veterans with patriotic readings, songs, and a certificate. To top it all off, the kids from the Maple Grove Homeschool Group helped us make a fun turkey craft. Check out our pictures below from all these fun events!

We Love Halloween!

At The Willows of Arbor Lakes, we love Halloween! We had a blast celebrating with one another, and we were so thankful for the families from the Living Word homeschool group that came to visit us for Halloween this year. The kids did “reverse Trick-or-Treating” and brought candy for the residents. The residents loved seeing all the kids in costume, and the treats were a bonus. Preschool and Music

A fun Friday at the Willows of Ramsey Hill! We had our first visit of the school year from our friends at Crocus Hill Preschool in the morning and enjoyed the afternoon with some music from our friend Bill Cagley.

Fun in July

The past few weeks have been fun! We had a birthday party, special visits, and great music!

Happy Birthday

We were happy to celebrate Beverly’s 80th birthday on Friday with music by Jenni Thyng. Happy Birthday, Bev!

SWLC

The campers from Small World Learning Center visited the Willows last Friday to read to our residents. The residents were impressed with how well the kids could read, but were happy to help sound out some words as well. The campers will be back a few more times this summer to share more stories, and we are looking forward to their next visit!

Amy & Adams

Amy & Adams recently performed a great show for us. The residents loved it and thought the music was refreshing.

Volunteers

Our volunteers brought the outdoors inside with their last visit. The kids rode their scooters and bikes, blew bubbles, and played noodle ball. Most importantly, they brought so many smiles to the residents’ faces!

Spring Fun

Residents at the Willows of Arbor Lakes had fun with some spring holiday activities and performances.

Irish Dancers

Our residents were incredibly impressed watching the Rince Nua Irish Dancers.  Each dancer was so talented, and their performance was definitely a highlight of our St. Patrick’s Day celebrations!

Easter Eggs

Coloring Easter eggs brought out the residents’ creative side and brought back many memories of Easter Sundays in the past.

Valentine’s Day Fun

We celebrated Valentine’s Day by decorating heart-shaped cookies, singing love songs, playing “name that couple,” and enjoying visits with toddlers from Small World Living Center.
